Patient care environments are categorized by Section 24 of the Canadian Electrical Code into three area classifications:

Depending on the area classification different installation standards must be met. Grounding and bonding in these environments must be installed correctly to facilitate safe care of individuals receiving care.
CSA Z-32-18 is the required testing standard for all receptacles in patient care environments in all area classifications. This testing covers: Insulation resistance, branch circuit breaker operation and verification, retentive force testing, polarity testing, voltage drop for grounded systems, ground return path rise, and potential between grounded points.

Upon completion of project a report is generated to verify correct functionality and adherence to CSA Z-32-18 Standard.
